Carla Brown Lucas

Since launching the firm in 2007, Carla has garnered local, state, national, and international media placements by proactively identifying and crafting unique, engaging, and compelling stories. Using strategies honed during her 20 years of experience, Carla effectively works with clients to identify their core goals and deliver results that align with their mission.

Prior to Brown Lucas Consulting, Carla was the vice president of marketing and public relations at the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) where she directed all media relations, advertising, publications, and the development of promotional materials.  While there, Carla oversaw the creation of the organization’s biotech industry recruitment piece, “Life.Science.”, which received two Addy awards, a first for the BDB.

Previous experience includes time with a leading Tallahassee-based public affairs firm, where she worked with a variety of clients in the pharmaceutical, education, healthcare, government, nonprofit, and land development sectors.  She played a leading role in the management of the firm’s account with drug maker Eli Lilly and Company, and coordinated media events for other clients that garnered national coverage.

Carla began her career as a public information assistant in the Florida governor’s press office, and worked for three administrations.

A graduate of Florida State University, Carla holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (creative writing), with a minor in international affairs. The former resident of Stuart, Florida, is a graduate of Leadership Martin County, Class 19; past president of The Pine School Alumni Association; and served on the board of trustees of The Pine School and the board of directors for the Martin County Seminole Club. In addition to being a member of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA), Carla currently serves on FPRA’s Capital Chapter board as the director of student relations. She also is a longtime member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), and is a member of PRSA’s Counselors Academy section in addition to serving on the executive committee for the Independent Practitioners Alliance section.

In her free time she enjoys traveling, cooking, photography, and knitting.
